Employment Support/Capacity Building/SLES
Our team is dedicated to helping our participants who want a job find a job. We ourselves understand the value of working and go the Extra Step to help our participants not only find a job, but one that pays an AWARD WAGE. We do this in many ways including:
Finding work experience so you can build your skills to ready you for paid employment
Getting you trained and qualified by partnering with services that can help you gain skills in the industry you are seeking to enter. We also help you to complete the training so you are supported at every step of the way.
Working with businesses that can offer people employment.
On the job support so you are not left alone and can build your confidence until you are ready and able to do the job yourself.
Provide transport.
We do everything we can to support you to not only get a job but keep your job. We are committed to you for the long term and want to ensure you have every chance of success in terms of gaining and staying employed.
Capacity Building - Improved Learning
Have you wanted to do some further study, or attend TAFE or University? Extra Steps can help with improved learning supports. This will help you to transition through school to further education. You may receive help from Extra Steps applying for a study program or course, planning your study timetable, purchasing textbooks, or having a support working attend classes with you.
Please remember– NDIS funding will not pay for any of your school or tuition fees.
Horse Racing Work Experience and Employment
We have been fortunate enough to partner with Horse Racing QLD who are wanting to help participants looking for work experience and employment work with their trainers to develop the skills to become fully qualified Stable Hands. You will be given support and training by some of the best people in the industry to ready you to take care of their horses. So if you love horses and want to know more, feel free to get in contact with us now!
Short Term Accommodation (STA)
Short Term Accommodation, including respite, is funding for support and accommodation for a short time away from your usual home.
Sometimes a short stay away from home:
Gives you the chance to try new things
Can be a place to make new friends or develop new skills
May help to maintain your current living situation by giving your informal supports a break.
Short Term Accommodation may suit your needs if your usual support network isn’t available for a short period.
Short Term Accommodation includes:
Personal care
Accommodation
Food
Activities you and the provider agree to
It covers the cost of your care in another place for up to 14 days at a time. You might have a short stay with other people, or by yourself. It’s often funded when your usual carers aren’t available, or for you to try new things.
It’s important to note that STA’s are not holidays. Holidays will not be funded under their NDIS plan.
