Our Values

My Maori heritage plays a pivotal role in shaping my core values and approach, especially the principle of Tikanga—conducting oneself rightly, which at Extra Steps, translates to doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reasons. This philosophy is the cornerstone of how we operate and interact with our participants and the wider community.

Person Centered

We ensure that every person we work with is at the heart of everything we do. We are there to walk alongside them and help them achieve the goals they have for themselves to live a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Integrity

We pride ourselves in being ethical, responsible, and trustworthy. This means doing the right thing, for the right reason, at the right time, and knowing we are just and reliable in our practices.

Collaboration

We value relationships, kinship, and a sense of family connection. We want all our participants to feel they are connected to our team and feel supported. Through this connection, we can tackle the challenges and ensure they live in a community that is just and nurturing.

Participation

We are hopeful that all people have an opportunity to participate in their world even when the most complex issues are present. We work towards addressing barriers so that all participants have access to their community and partake in society.
